COMPOSITION IN THE AP
SPANISH CLASS BASED ON
TOPICS OR “TEMAS” |
|
|
|
A general outline for
writing a “tema”
composition is the
following: |
|
|
|
I. The
Introductory Paragraph |
|
|
|
The Topic Sentence:
Tells what the subject
is and what you plan to
say about it. |
|
|
|
Each
sentence of this opening
paragraph is closely
related to the topic.
They provide the
direction and a few
details. Proceed from
general ideas in the
first sentence to
specific ideas later. |
|
|
|
II. The
Body of the Composition |
|
|
|
These paragraphs develop
your thesis (main idea),
while explaining,
defining, comparing, and
classifying information
to support your main
idea. All paragraphs
should connect with
transition sentences.
Use facts, quotations,
and examples to support
your ideas. |
|
|
|
III.
The Concluding
Paragraph: |
| |
|
The concluding paragraph
often begins with a
general review of the
important ideas and ends
with a statement that
reminds the reader of
the overall importance
of your composition.
When you give personal
opinions, support them
with facts.
