A PROOFREADING GUIDE FOR COMPOSITION IN SPANISH 

1. Do all articles (el, un) match their respective nouns?

2. Do the subjects in each sentence part agree with their respective verbs?

3. Do all adjectives agree in gender and in number with their respective nouns?

4. Is there a sequence of tenses employed?

5. Are all object pronouns proper and in their appropriate place?

6. Should any verb form be used reflexively and if so, are there proper reflexive pronouns?

7. Are indicative and subjunctive mode verb forms correct and in the right tense?

8. Is there a personal “a” where needed?

9. Are any present tense verb forms “stem changing”?

10. Are SER and ESTAR used properly?

11. Are POR and PARA used properly?

12. Are possessives used correctly?

13. Are contractions made (a + el, de + el)?

14. Check for proper spelling at all times.

15. Are accent marks placed in all appropriate places?

16. Watch out for irregular verb forms in every tense, case, or mode.
